Identifying climate circulation patterns in Iberia lake dynamics

5ª-feira 13 de Março, das 12h às 13h, na sala C8.2.47

A large fraction of the Iberian Peninsula climate is dominated by the North Atlantic Oscillation. However, besides the North Atlantic Oscillation other climate circulation patterns (CCPs) have important contributions, such as the so-called eastern Atlantic and Scandinavian modes. Several works have shown that lakes are one of the best continental sensors for characterizing the signature of the CCPs on the local environmental conditions. In particular, Iberian lakes are highly influenced by CCPs and therefore, they are sensitive to record changes in these patterns throughout time. However it is crucial to understand lake characteristics such as lake geographic location, morphology and external and internal lake processes to account properly the CCPs influence."
