A specialized course on the Physics at the Large Hadron Collider is organized by LIP in the framework of the International Doctorate Network in Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology (IDPASC). The course is intended for under-graduate or graduate students with basic training in Particle Physics.
The objective of the Course is to introduce the physics, analysis methods and results on the physics areas covered by the LHC experiments.
LIP and IDPASC are organising from 12th to 16th March 2018 in Lisbon, the event Data Science in (Astro)Particle Physics and the Bridge to Industry.
The goal of this event is to show the synergies between fundamental research and applied Data Science in the society. In the the first three days a school on Data Science for fundamental physics will be held. The target audience is undergraduate and PhD students, as well as young researchers.

The Lisbon mini-school on Particle and Astroparticle Physics provides under-graduated students with a comprehensive introduction to the field, covering both theoretical and experimental aspects. This school will give insight to recent discoveries and to open challenges and will stress the research opportunities in the field in Portugal.

Computer virtualization has been widely adopted in industry and science. Operating system level virtualization enables the creation of application specific computing environments (containers) that resemble virtual machines. Containers are efficient, flexible and can be used to encapsulate scientific applications.
