The Top, the Higgs, the SUSY: a youngster's guide to spending your research years in a big HEP experiment

Abstract: ​After the Higgs boson discovery, and given the latest statistical flukes that stimulated a large number of theoretical papers, the interest of the experimental community is being redistributed among research topics in a quite different way than five years ago. Starting from my own experience and current research program, I will attempt to give some personal perspectives about how to make the most out of your research years at a general purpose detector at the LHC.

O terreno da Matemática é o escolhido, tal como no problema de Kadinson-Singer (sem resolução durante 50 anos), e onde se trata da reconciliação da Física Quântica com a Matemática (Marcus, Spielman e Srivastava, 2015).

Bayesian methods in the physical sciences (with applications to cosmology)

Abstract: Bayesian data analysis provides a robust framework for interpreting data and testing physical models. I outline the main principles of such analyses. While the methodology is broadly applicable across all sciences, I demonstrate it with some explicit examples in contemporary cosmology.
