Nesta primeira Conferência CIUHCT de 2016, a investigadora Elvira Callapez apresenta a sua investigação sobre a história tecnocientífica, industrial e social dos plásticos e o seu impacto na sociedade desde 1910, tendo por base o artigo que escreveu com o título "Safeguarding the Plastic´s Heritage".

Under the umbrella of Culture versus Nature and the concept of Anthropocene, which argues that at least since the Industrial Revolution, humans have had such an impact over the planet, an effect that threatens its destruction or, at least, the destruction of its ecosystems and life as we know it, the aim of this workshop is to reflect on gardens through these lenses and use its potentialities to find solutions for the desired future planet garden.
“Ciência, Prestígio e Devoção: os Jesuítas e a Ciência em Portugal”, editado pela Lucerna, no início de 2015, é a primeira abordagem à história científica dos jesuítas em Portugal nos séculos XIX e XX.
A propósito do quarto aniversário da morte do P. Luís Archer, e por ocasião do lançamento do primeiro volume da sua obra seleta, no dia 8 de outubro realiza-se a conferência "Da Genética à Bioética: A vida e obra do P. Luís Archer S.J. (1926-2011)", na sede da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, em Lisboa.
