Abstract: Recent advances on applications of spintronic devices are covered, ranging from large power output (vortex or homogeneous) spin-transfer based nano-oscillators and their possible applications ( MHz to GHz communications, ICT), to magnetic tunnel junction and spin-valve based devices for industrial (position encoders, current sensors, magnetic scanners) and biomedical (MR biochips, cytometers, electrodes for neuronal current monitoring) applications. Where required these systems are/can be integrated monolithically with CMOS, or integrated onto chip-on-board architectures. Major challenges for several of these device categories will be addressed. Collective modes, sinchronization (Nano-oscillators), noise spectra, signal output, temperature stability and temperature endurance, sensor linearity ( sensors) will be discussed.
