For this end-of-the-year Europlanet Webinar we have something special in store. There will be two parts, beginning with film and music. Paolo Tanga from the Observatory of the Côte d’Azur in Nice will introduce the Venus Twilight Experiment and we will watch an excellent 30-minute long documentary on the subject.
As an introduction to the second half, we will listen to and watch the Our Last Transit of Venus for Glass Armonica music video, with music composed by William Zeitler. We will hear talks by Pedro Machado and Alexandre Branco (Ciências ULisboa) about some brand new results on Transit of Venus 2012 data analysis and how it can help in the study of exoplanet atmospheres. The other talk will be by composer and musician William Zeitler, who will talk about the Transit of Venus in the past in relation to Benjamin Franklin and Franklin’s invention of the Glass Armonica in a Transit of Venus year!
