Abstract: In this seminar we present an overview on Smart Textiles for Medicine and Health Care, their main applications, recent trends and interactive garments and clothing systems for the continuous monitoring of physiological signals. We describe textile electrodes [1, 2] and prototypes [3] developed in the ambit of the national project "SIVIC – Integrated Wearable System for Cardiovascular Surveillance", funded by FCT and present the experimental results obtained, addressing the performance of the electrodes and the main achievements and limitations of the prototypes.
