Por Paulo Guilherme Santos (ISCAL and CMAFcIO).
Logical Positivism is widely considered a dead philosophy. In this talk, I will aim at giving new life to the movement by presenting parts of a book that I wrote on the subject that is ready for publication. Several key-ideas will be presented and one of the main aspects of this approach to Positivism is the absolute focus on empirical verifiability: even in the realm of Logic and Mathematics. As an example of the empirical analysis, I will account for Logic in my talk. My goal is to take a pragmatic approach to Logical Positivism and view it more as a description of meaning using Science, rather than engaging in never ending (pseudo-)philosophical debates on metaphysics.
