Por Antje Voelker (IPMA, Portugal).
The International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) is an international marine research collaboration (including Portugal) that explores Earth's history and dynamics using ocean-going research platforms to recover data recorded in seafloor sediments and rocks and to monitor subseafloor environments. IODP expeditions are developed from hypothesis-driven science proposals aligned with the program's Science Plan (2013-2023) Illuminating Earth's Past, Present, and Future, which encompasses the four areas of climate change, deep life, planetary dynamics, and geohazards. In my presentation I will present the current program itself and point out opportunities for researchers (early career to experienced) within the international and European sides of the program. In the end, I will also provide an outlook into the future and the new 2050 Science Framework: Exploring Earth by Scientific Ocean Drilling.
