Positions in the Department and call for expressions of interest

Presently, there is a position for an Assistant Professor in Mathematical Analysis in competition (the last day for application was January 19, 2024).

Two new positions for Assistant Professor (one in Mathematical Analysis and one in Geometry and Topology) and a new position for Associate Professor (in Algebra, Combinatorics and Mathematical Logic with emphasis in Computational Complexity) have been recently approved. The official notices of the openings are expected to be published within weeks.

This year and over the next few years, the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa will hire more professors of mathematics at the assistent level.

The department offers ample opportunities, since it is in an ongoing process of renewal. The department is interested in people with a strong record of publications and promising scientific outlook, who like to teach and want to work at Faculdade de Ciências. We offer good working conditions: modern facilities, a very complete library, electronic access to journals, as well as the opportunity to integrate a research center affiliated with the department which  is funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and may provide research funding.

Call for expressions of interest:

This call is open for mathematicians in all fields of Mathematics. For the official position under competition, as well as for the ones referred to above and to be open soon, a priori postdoctoral experience, international experience and teaching experience are preferred factors. Foreign candidates are welcome, but they are expected to be able to teach in Portuguese after one year.
