This course aims at enabling the participants to use different methods to measure the impacts of pollutants on ecosystems.

A CoastNet - Rede Portuguesa de Monitorização Costeira é uma infraestrutura de investigação MARE, que faz parte do Roteiro Nacional de Infraestruturas de Investigação de Interesse Estratégico (RNIE-FCT). Através do seu funcionamento estão a ser monitorizados os ecossistemas costeiros portugueses, com recolha de parâmetros físicos, químicos e biológicos, obtidos remotamente e disponibilizados quase em tempo real (www.coastnet.pt).

This course is conceived to give an integrated view of the living component of soils, and its key role on ecosystem functions and processes.

Objectives: Under the general framework of Global Change Ecology, the goal of this course is to provide the participants with the most recent and practical knowledge on the use of Functional Diversity. This includes the selection of functional traits and calculation of Functional Diversity Indexes. Examples of the application of this knowledge will be given regarding Ecological Indicators and Ecosystem Services.
