Vera Sequeira is an Assistant Researcher at Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre (MARE), Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL), since June 2019. She obtained her PhD degree in Sea Sciences by Universidade de Lisboa in 2011. From 2011 to 2019 she was a Post-doctoral Researcher at the MARE-UL Fisheries Lab. Her core research areas are: (i) fish reproductive strategies; (2) fish stock structure; and (3) science communication. From 1998 to 2006 she worked at Lisbon Zoo where she was Product Manager responsible for the educational programs and training (2002-2004) and Head Manager of the Educational Department (2004-2006). In the last 6 years, she has been actively involved in Science Communication taking an MSc degree in 2017 in the area. She currently co-coordinates MARE's educational program in MARE’s Lisbon Pole, which promotes Ocean Literacy and reached around 1500 school activities and 35000 students, since its foundation in 2015.
