Soraia M. Alarcão holds a PhD (2022) in Informatics from Ciências ULisboa. She is an Assistant Professor at Ciências ULisboa and an Integrated Researcher at LASIGE. Her research focuses on assistive technologies and HCI, particularly in designing technology for people with cognitive impairments and developing user-centered computational models for emotion recognition on multimedia data. She publishes on top venues, such as TAC, MTAP, and ACII. She participated in multiple EU-funded research consortia (AAL Association, H2020 Twinning, FP7-SPACE, and FCT), and has recently worked in the a-STEP COST action. She currently supervises five master's students and two prospective PhD students and has supervised eight MSc theses and mentored ten MSc theses. Her research interests include Accessibility, Emotions Recognition, Human-Computer Interaction, Health Systems, Machine Learning, and Multimedia Information Retrieval.
