Main research interests are in Behavioural Physiology, (acoustic communication, physiology of hearing and sound production). Empirical studies were previously carried out with insects, particularly cicadas, but acoustic communication in fish has become a central issue. Main interests are now on the effects of noise on aquatic organisms and in the study of marine Ecoacoustics, and its possible application as a tool to assess habitat health, with a special focus on estuarine environments and coral reefs.
