A sessão contará com a presença de dois oradores convidados, Cristina Tavares (CFCUL/FBAUL) e Jorge Jesuíno (CFCUL/ISCTE/ISCSP).
Numa abordagem transdisciplinar ao legado gótico-romântico, e adotando uma perspetiva ético-política e ecofilosófica, este livro revela como o teatro, a performance, o cinema, a literatura, as artes plásticas e a arquitetura se cruzam na construção de paisagens teóricas e estéticas comuns do GÓTICO.
Pretende deste modo contribuir para uma reavaliação contemporânea do modo Gótico-Romântico, numa época de enorme popularidade do imaginário gótico na produção cultural global.
A tradição gótico-romântica mapeada no livro é ampla, abordando conceitos filosóficos; géneros teatrais; obras literárias de Alexandre Herculano, E.T.A. Hoffmann, Edgar Allan Poe, J.W. Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Percy Shelley e Alexandre Dumas pai; filmes de Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Lars von Trier, David Lynch, Alejandro Amenábar e Guillermo del Toro; projetos de arquitetura/cenografia por Horace Walpole, William Beckford e Luigi Manini (Quinta da Regaleira, Portugal).
Bio: Graça P. Corrêa is a researcher in Science and Art at FCUL-Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, DHFS-Department of History and Philosophy of Sciences, where she conducts interdisciplinary research on Empathy, Emotion Theory, Ecophilosophy and Ethics as an integrated member of CFCUL-Center for Philosophy of Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Theatre and Film Studies from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, following a Master of Arts Degree in Directing at Emerson College Boston, and Degrees in Architecture and Dramaturgy at UL and ESTC, through grants awarded by FCT-Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, the Fulbright Commission and the FCG-Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Alongside her academic career, she is a professional theatre director, playwright, dramaturg, stage designer and translator of drama, with productions presented in Portugal and the US.
