In this talk some general considerations will be introduced on the capabilities and techniques of this branch of chemistry that deals with electrons in molecules. Next, a number of case studies will be presented both published and unpublished that showcase the extraordinary insight that quantum chemistry brings to any chemical study. These success stories feature spectroscopic properties, photo-physics, reactivity up close, and range from applied CO2 activation to very fundamental chemical bonding analysis.
