Scientific Interests

I am an assistant researcher at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (FCUL) and at MARE. I completed my PhD in 2009 on Marine Biology and was a postdoctoral researcher at FCUL and Agrocampus Ouest until 2013.

I am especially interested in (1) estimating the value of coastal habitats for exploited species and measuring population connectivity, (2) assessing and modelling global to local drivers of biodiversity, (3) quantifying the links between biodiversity, ecosystem functioning and services, and (4) determining the effects of human activities on aquatic ecosystems.

Most of my work focuses on estuarine and coastal ecosystems, and principally on fishes.
