Laboratory for the study of natural ventilation solutions in indoor environments. The dimensions of the test chamber are 6 x 6.5m with a height of 3.3m. The chamber allows the investigation of passive indoor cooling solutions in office buildings. It is also being used for testing low pressure particle filters.
This laboratory will be soon upgraded and divided into two similar hybrid offices. Each office will consist of a HVAC system, both a natural and a mechanical ventilation system, a shading system and daylighting control system. The objective is to use artificial intelligence to optimize the energy consumption and the indoor comfort through several passive, active or hybrid control techniques. The use of two similar offices also allows for direct comparison of different control strategies under the same exterior conditions (outdoor air temperature, wind speed and direction, solar gains, etc.).
In addition, a wind tunnel is also associated with the laboratory.
