The Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (Ciências ULisboa) is an institution dedicated to the creation, transmission, and dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge. It fosters a culture of lifelong learning, valuing critical thinking and intellectual autonomy.

Its mission is to conduct research and teaching, promote knowledge transfer and innovation in the fields of exact and natural sciences and technosciences, as well as to disseminate and share cultures, encouraging a constant openness to civil society.

Ciências ULisboa is guided by principles of intellectual freedom and respect for academic ethics, the recognition and promotion of merit, the social and economic valorization of knowledge, and the encouragement of innovation, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development and social responsibility.

Ciências ULisboa aims to promote and organise scientific research and the social and economic value of its results, and to provide undergraduate and postgraduate education and lifelong learning activities, in collaboration with the other schools of the University of Lisbon and with national and foreign institutions. It further seeks to ensure the conditions for the personal and professional fulfilment and qualification of its entire community, while guaranteeing academic freedom, and to promote the quality of life and work of its students. It also sets out to foster entrepreneurship and knowledge valorisation, strengthening the interaction between scientific research, business and society.
