The Administrative Management Department is responsible for providing qualified support for decision-making and ensuring effective coordination between the governing bodies, internal structures and services of Ciências ULisboa. It also promotes institutional interaction with external entities, both national and international, and provides technical and administrative support to facilitate communication, cooperation and the integrated functioning of the academic community.

Studies, Planning and Quality Area

The Studies, Planning and Quality Area (AEPQ) collects, analyses and presents management support indicators. It is responsible for planning and evaluation, and provides information to the Faculty community. The AEPQ comprises the Studies and Planning Office (GEP), which is responsible for obtaining indicators to support management and decision-making and to support planning.

The AEPQ is responsible for analysing and processing statistical data and surveys, as well as preparing studies, producing management documents and carrying out study cycle evaluation processes or accrediting new study cycles. It deals with indicators relating to academic success, mobility, graduation and employability and manages the objectives set for the different service units. It is responsible for supporting the Plan and Activity Report of Ciências ULisboa and monitors the Compliments, Suggestions and Complaints system.

Featured projects and initiatives

  • Statistics: provision and continuous updating of statistics on student progress, namely in terms of admissions, attendance in study cycles, degrees awarded, graduate employability and internationalisation

  • Accreditations and Rankings: provision of mandatory public information to the Ciências community, within the scope of study cycle evaluation processes, institutional accreditation and related results

  • Surveys: assessment of student satisfaction with their academic progress, based on pedagogical surveys, course surveys and employability surveys, two years and ten years after graduation

  • Compliments, Suggestions and Complaints: assessment of the satisfaction of members of the Community, monitored through the analysis of the system of compliments, suggestions and complaints, as well as through the services satisfaction survey.

External Relations Area

The External Relations Area (ARE) brings together all processes that promote contact with national and international entities. The Mobility and Welcome Office and the Employability Office are part of the External Relations Area.

In addition to institutional relations with similar entities within and outside the country, ARE also welcomes and supports European students participating in the Erasmus programme, internship agreements, business partnerships, participation in international programmes, organisation of events such as Jobshop Ciências, career guidance and management of alumni databases.

What we do

Mobility and Welcome Office (more information on student mobility)

  • Promotes and coordinates academic mobility programmes, both international and national

  • Manages the mobility processes of students, teaching and non-teaching staff leaving or entering CIÊNCIAS under mobility programmes and bilateral protocols

  • Organises actions and events that facilitate the reception and integration of mobility students and promote the mobility of Science students

  • Manages specific inter-institutional agreements and protocols for mobility

  • Provides support for the preparation of applications under the Erasmus+ Programme (Consortia, Blended Intensive Programme) and international partnerships

  • Manages curricular and extracurricular internship agreements for Science students

  • Manages internship agreements for students from foreign and national Higher Education Institutions.

Employability Office (more information on employability)

  • Guides students and graduates towards entering the job market

  • Advertises professional opportunities on the Employment Portal and LinkedIn page of the Employability Office

  • Organises the Jobshop Ciências and other events with companies

  • Monitors extracurricular internship processes

  • Promotes and monitors the Erasmus+ Internship Programme for Recent Graduates

  • Manages the Curricular Volunteering course unit

  • Conducts surveys on the employability of Faculty graduates

  • Manages the Ciências ULisboa Alumni Network database.

ARE Team

Administrative Support Area

The Administrative Support Area provides advice and technical-administrative support to both the governance bodies and the committees set up by them. It is also responsible, through the Administrative Support Centres, for ensuring interaction between the Faculty members and the remaining services and for providing support to both the Departments' bodies and the Research and Development Structures directly associated to them.

Considering the size of the school community, the Administrative Support Centres are distributed across the Campo Grande campus.

AAA Team

Legal Office

The Legal Office prepares reports, studies and legal opinions on matters requested by government bodies. It monitors administrative litigation proceedings and provides legal support in the drafting of regulations, resolutions, orders and other documents.
