The Committee for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE @Ciências) has the following objectives:
To manage the Tec Labs incubator, looking for continuous improvement, development and adaptation to industry trends, in particular by monitoring the maturation of the ecosystem and its capacity to support scale-up companies that bring national and international recognition to the incubator and to CIÊNCIAS, in close collaboration and coordination with ULisboa, in particular by exploring synergies that prove possible and beneficial for the system promoting innovation and entrepreneurship across the entire University;
To manage the ScienceIN2Business methodology, in order to advance the teaching of entrepreneurship and innovation in CIÊNCIAS, as well as innovation and technology transfer initiatives involving students and researchers, among others, through calls for project submissions and other initiatives that may be devised, with the aim of significantly strengthening the interaction between the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Area and the CIÊNCIAS scientific research system, and, in this way, improving the efficiency of the process of raising community awareness of the cross-cutting relevance of these components;
To establish, in collaboration with the relevant CIÊNCIAS service units, the structure, processes and management model necessary for the creation of a Business Network that will enable the Faculty to engage more ambitiously and collaboratively with the business community, specifically, with a view to establishing an internal investment fund focused on technology transfer originating from CIÊNCIAS, funded by companies/institutions wishing to establish themselves as our key partners in this area, or to promoting a coherent range of non-degree training programmes in collaboration with these partners;
To manage institutional and partnership relations in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship across ULisboa and at an international level, through projects such as UNITE! or the task force responsible for establishing an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub at ULisboa.
