This Colloquium, held the 22nd November 2018 in Lisbon, was organised by the Centro Internacional de Matemática, in collaboration with the Sociedade Portuguesa de Matemática and the Academia das Ciências de Lisboa,  with the support of the Centro de Matemática Computacional e Estocástica (CEMAT/IST-ULisboa) and the Centro de Matemática, Aplicações Fundamentais e Investigação Operacional (CMAFcIO/Ciências-ULisboa).
