Recent years have seen increasing interest in the Predictive Brain hypothesis to explain human minds. In parallel, advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) face us with multiple challenges regarding the basis of cognitive processing and thinking in artificial and biological agents. Here I briefly explore the link between the Predictive Processing theories of cognition and Artificial Intelligence (AI) with focus on embodiment. I argue that while current views on AI tacitly endorse a mind-body dualism, future work needs to address the problem of the connexion between artificial minds and artificial bodies to accurately mirror human thinking and cognition. Specifically I suggest that the traditional distinction between the brain and body may be highly misleading, because it may imply that the brain and the body are somehow two distinct organismic categories. However, unless one endorses explicitly a brain (mind)-body dualistic stance, the taken for granted dichotomy between brain and body remains unwarranted from a purely neurobiological perspective. Consequently, the very idea that the brain is the exclusive home of mental states and cognition needs to be reconsidered, with key implications on how future work on artificial intelligence considers the very basis of cognitive processing or intelligence per se.
