Currículo Resumido

Graduated in Biology (Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, FCUL) since 1984. Master in Biotechnology -Biochemical Engineering (IST, Technical University of Lisbon), since 1988. PhD in Biology (Physiology and Biochemistry) from the University of Lisbon, finished in 1996. Is teaching in the Department of Plant Biology, FCUL since 1984, and has been researching at the Centre for Biological Engineering (1984 to 2008), Biodiversity Centre, Integrative and Functional Genomics (2009 to 2013), and in the Group of Functional Genomics of Plants of the Institute of Biosystems and Integrative Sciences (BioISI) since 2013. The main area of teaching and research is Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, namely the photosynthesis of C3, C4 and CAM plants, particularly at the level of regulation of primary carbon metabolism by abiotic and biotic factors. The research has been mostly carried out in plants with economic interest, such as grasses and legumes used for pastures, turf or grain production and fruit production, e.g., Ananas comosus (pineapple), Pyrus communis (pera Rocha), Malus domestica (maçã), Lycium barbarum (Bagas Goji). At the level of education, it has: i) responsible for the discipline of Plant Physiology (degree in Biology) and Kinetics and Enzymatic Regulation (option of 3 master's degrees); (ii) taught in other pre- and post-graduate disciplines in FCUL (about 10); participated, by invitation, in the Plant for Life doctoral program (ITQB, UNL) and in the Science for Development Graduate Program (PGCD, Cape Verde), promoted by IGC; iii) oriented internships of initiation to research, research grants in the context of projects, scientific exchanges, and internships leading to professionalization and academic degrees; iv) participated in academic juries, among others. At the level of research, it has: (i) been involved in numerous funded projects, including projects in the field of agrarian sciences, which correspond to an overall funding of about 5 M; (ii) organized some national and international scientific meetings; iii) published in international journals and minutes of congresses with scientific arbitration (index h 17, index i10 20 and 887 citations, Google Scholar); iv) participated in the review of scientific articles for 10 international journals. It has also collaborated with national and international research laboratories and national associations of agricultural producers. Member of the International Society of Photosynthesis Research (founding member), Society of Experimental Botany, International Society for Horticultural Science, Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology, Portuguese Horticulture Association and Portuguese Societies of Biochemistry (SPB), Ecology (SPECO), and Plant Biology (SPBP, former Portuguese Society of Plant Physiology, being the latter's Secretariat from December 2015 until January 2025
