Scientific Interests

With respect to my current interests, I have to say that because of my experience on biomolecules: amino acids, peptides, fatty acids and DNA/RNA and my experience on nanosurfaces and nanocapsules, I am trying to mix all these concepts in order know potential medical applications of polyoxometalates and some metal complexes. That is, I am trying to understand the interaction of polyoxometalates and other metal complexes with biomolecules and their environment at nanoscale level and I am trying to understand how some biological processes are modified when these polyoxometalates and/or metal complexes are incorporated in these processes. Once the interaction and mechanisms are understood, I try to design the most efficient drugs by modification of the species according to the best efficiency. I am also interested in the application of (bio)computational chemistry and nanobiotechnologies to find nanobiosolutions for several problems related to the preservation of the environment and green chemistry. I expect that the results of my research will help to the development of nanobiotechnology applied to medicine, help to the preservation of the environment, solve several problems related to the current social challenges and thus, contribute to the scientific excellence of our community.
