The Standard Model of Particle Physics (SM) is a very successful theory, based on local gauge symmetries, that describes the fundamental particles and the interactions between them. The Higgs mechanism describes the procedure in which the fundamental particles acquire mass, through the spontaneous breaking of the electroweak symmetry. We know, however, that the SM is not the end of the story, since there are many phenomena that it cannot describe. In this talk I will present the experimental status of the Higgs boson studies, focusing on the measurements of its properties and the lessons we can learn about the coherence of the SM and possible hints for new physics.​
