Wouter Schellart

Wouter Schellart is a geodynamicist and tectonicist with a strong research interest in subduction zone processes, plate tectonics and mantle dynamics. With colleagues and students, he has developed a novel approach combining laboratory and numerical modelling to improve quantitative understanding of subduction zone processes. He has also led observation-based statistical investigations of subduction zone properties and developed tectonic reconstructions of subduction zone evolution, most notably of the Southwest Pacific region.
