Ancient Board Games: duodecim scripta and tabula. This presentation will show some examples of ancient game boards used for duodecim scripta and will consider some of the views advanced by games historians on how this game was played. Some consideration will also be given to the evolution from duodecim scripta to tabula which is thought to have led, in turn, to modern backgammon.
