Abstract: Microfilaments can be found everywhere, in fabrics, we use in everyday life, and in Nature produced by plants and animals. The properties of the materials, built up from these threads, are dependent upon the filaments structures, morphologies as well as their shapes. This seminar represents an extension of the work the team has been developing in which the surface morphology of micro fibers was revealed by combining experiments and numerical modelling of fiber-to-liquid crystal interactions.
