Aiming for accessible and truly reproducible quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Sala 1.4.14, Ciências ULisboa

Por Rita G. Nunes (LaSEEB - Instituto Superior Técnico).

There has been a growing interest in using T1-mapping in the clinic to detect myocardial tissue fibrosis as an alternative to the use of contrast agents. However, the reproducibility of T1 measurements across imaging sites is impaired by methodological differences in the acquisition strategies. This talk will present an open-source vendor-agnostic T1 mapping alternative. Further developments will also be presented that can improve patient comfort by reducing the need for breath holding.

Short Bio: Rita G Nunes has been an Assistant Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico since the end of  2016. Since October 2021, she has been the coordinator of the Laboratory of Evolutionary Systems and Biomedical Engineering (LaSEEB) at the Institute of Systems and Robotics (ISR). Her research is focused on acquisition and reconstruction methodologies for Quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging (diffusion and relaxometry – T1 and T2 mapping).
