Monte Tronador a glaciological laboratory for the Northern Patagonian Andes

Abstract: Due to the beauty and accessibility of Monte Tronador, their glaciers have been widely studied in the last 60 years, including paleoclimatic studies, glacier hazards analysis, and glacier fluctuations studies. Since 2013, the IANIGLA start a monitoring program related to the Glacier protection Law of Argentina. In this talk, a summary of the regional importance of these glaciers and later findings in terms of glacier mass balance, ice dynamics and future mass change projection will be presented.
