The PhD research work can be conducted under the cotutelle of two higher education institutions through a specific agreement signed by the Universities and the doctoral student, in accordance with the Regulations in force.

Doctoral students in CIÊNCIAS who are in a position to carry out their doctoral thesis in similar doctoral programmes at ULisboa and a foreign university under the supervision of at least one professor from each university may apply for a co-tutorship agreement. In this case, doctoral students should make this possibility known to their supervisor and only then contact the Academic Unit (Doctoral Office of the Postgraduate Studies Area).

Procedures:

1. Documentation to be submitted to make the application:

Doctoral students of CIÊNCIAS

  • Form (available soon);
  • Work plan.

Doctoral students from foreign universities

2. Assessment of the request and completion of the agreement templates:

  • Once the proposal to carry out a thesis under an international co-tutorship scheme at the University of Lisbon has been assessed by the Scientific Board of CIÊNCIAS, the doctoral student will be informed by email. If the proposal is accepted, the doctoral student must fill in the minutes of the co-tutoring agreement (PT and EN), together with the supervisor, and send them by email to the Academic Unit (Doctoral Office of the Postgraduate Studies Area).
