Biochemistry: The exciting and dynamic frontier of science

Biochemistry studies the molecules and chemical processes that occur in living organisms. It explores the structure and function of different biological molecules, such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids, and the ways in which they interact with each other to sustain life. It is a stimulating and dynamic area at the frontier of science, which encompasses multidisciplinary knowledge from subatomic particles to cells, with a strong mathematical and computational component and some incursion into human physiology and pathology.
