Knowledge Assessment and Certification

The Regulations for the Assessment of Knowledge in SCIENCES (Resolution No. 2284/2013, of 4 December, amended by Resolution No. 1279/2020, of 24 December) set out the concepts, standards and rules associated with assessment, attendance requirements and assessment methods (continuous, periodic, by exams or attendance tests and final).

The final assessment consists of a written exam, to be taken in person during the exam period at the end of the academic semester, covering all the material taught.

First-term examinations (normal) and second-term examinations (resit)

During the assessment periods, there will be two exam dates for each of the courses taught in the immediately preceding semester, corresponding to the two periods. The exam dates for the normal period and the resit period must be at least 10 days apart. All students may take the exam on both dates.

To be admitted to the examination, students must register online by midnight on the working day immediately preceding the day of the examination, in accordance with the Examination Calendar.

Improvement Examinations

Students may take resit exams in the same year they take the course or in the following academic year, but only once. For those who passed in the first exam period, the second exam period will serve as a resit.

Taking resit exams in the following year requires prior registration and entails the payment of a fee for each exam, as defined in the Table of Fees.
