Applicants must attach the following documents to their application:

  • Certificate proving Bachelor's or Master's degree, with final grade and details of the number of credits per course unit;

  • Curriculum vitae;

  • Identification document (citizen card/passport, etc.) - optional;

  • Letter of motivation (one page), indicating the intended career path and referring to the training already obtained in the scientific areas of that path, as well as previous teaching experience in those same areas.

Postgraduate Studies in Scientific Research Methods and Techniques

The aim of the Postgraduate Studies in Scientific Research Methods and Techniques is to attract future PhD students by enabling them to be included in the research environment of a R&D unit of CIÊNCIAS, as part of teams carrying out top-level scientific research under the supervision of a professor of CIÊNCIAS or doctoral researcher with a contract with CIÊNCIAS or its associated institutions and carried out at the Faculty's facilities and/or at another non-degree granting institution with which CIÊNCIAS has a collaboration agreement.

The total number of credits to be obtained on the course is 15 ECTS per trimester and can never exceed 60 ECTS. Successful attendance is confirmed by a Certificate, issued within a maximum period of 90 working days after being requested.

Application Deadlines

This course is open to holders of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science, Technology or Engineering, or in another area of training deemed appropriate by the course's Scientific Committee.

Specific access conditions:

  • to hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree;

  • to not be a PhD student;

  • not to have previously attended this postgraduate course;

  • to be accepted innto the research group of a professor or researcher of CIÊNCIAS or one of its associates;

  • to be accepted by the course's Scientific Committee.

Applicants must attach the following documents to their application:

  • curriculum vitae;

  • identification document (optional);

  • letter of motivation;

  • proof of acceptance from a professor or researcher of CIÊNCIAS or one of its associates.

Preferably send scanned documents in PDF or image formats (e.g. jpeg, gif, png, etc.).

Applications that do not have all the documentation attached, will be excluded.

 

6 - Submit your application

 

7 - Payment of the application fee

Payment must be made upon receipt of an email, sent via the Fénix platform, by the Masters Office of the Postgraduate Studies Area of the Faculty of Sciences. The date of payment of the application fee is independent of the dates set for submission of the application.

 

 

Information:

  • Deadline for payment of the application fee: 2 days after notification;

  • Fees - pplication fee: €40.00;

  • Payment must be made by:

    • ATM reference;

    • Bank transfer via ATM, Internet, or at any bank branch (payment exclusively for applicants who do not reside in Portugal). In this case, you must submit the respective proof of payment with your application by uploading it to the corresponding tab.

  • Payments must be made solely and exclusivelyduring the application period.

  • All applications for which payment of the fee has been made after the deadline indicated in the application (2 days) and after the deadline for submission of applications will be excluded.

 

Publication of Results:

  • Results of applications for the PG in Science for Teaching - until 4 August 2026;

  • Results of applications for the PG in Scientific Research Methods and Techniques - during the academic year

After the publication of results:

Deposit Payment

As stipulated in the Despacho D/20/2024, after being informed of their admission, admitted applicants are required to pay a deposit of 65.00Euros, under penalty of losing their place on the course to which they have been admitted. The deposit must be paid within a continuous period of no more than 2 days after the results of each application period have been publicized.

 

Instructions of the deposit payment:

  • Access the application on Fenix (https://fenix.ciencias.ulisboa.pt/);

  • On the application, click on the operation “Generate Deposit Payment”;

  • Go to the “Deposit Payment Data” tab;

  • Consult the ATM reference;

  • Proceed with payment.

Payment by bank transfer instructions:

  • Access the application on Fenix (https://fenix.ciencias.ulisboa.pt/);

  • On the application, click on the operation “Generate Deposit Payment”;

  • Go to the “Deposit Payment Data” tab, to confirm the amount to be paid 65€;

  • Consult the tab “Bank Transfer – deposit”, to access the bank details;

  • Proceed with payment;

  • Upload proof of payment on the tab “Bank Transfer – deposit”, and submit it.

Warnings:

  • The amount paid as a deposit will revert to the payments due, following admission, for enrolment/registration on the respective postgraduate course;

  • Throughout the application process, candidates are notified by email of the status of their application, which can be consulted in the candidate’s area;

  • Admitted candidates must present their Bachelor's or Master's Degree Certificate(s) and the respective course units (except for candidates whose academic qualifications were completed at the Faculty of Sciences of ULisboa).
