The Courses in Sciences for Teaching offer a wide range of subjects in different scientific areas, organised into pathways associated with the teaching areas.

These courses aim to provide:

• The complementary training that enables those who complete it, to enter the Masters in Biology and Geology Teaching for the 3rd Cycle of Basic School and Secondary School, Physics and Chemistry Teaching for the 3rd Cycle of Basic School and Secondary School, InformaticsTeaching and Teaching of Mathematics in 3rd cycle of Primary Education and in Secondary Education, under the terms of paragraph 3 of Article 18 of Decree-Law No. 79/2014 of 14 May;

Postgraduate Studies in Sciences for Teaching - 30 credits (ECTS)

The aim of the Postgraduate Studies in Scientific Research Methods and Techniques is to attract future PhD students by enabling them to be included in the research environment of a R&D unit of CIÊNCIAS, as part of teams carrying out top-level scientific research under the supervision of a professor of CIÊNCIAS or doctoral researcher with a contract with CIÊNCIAS or its associated institutions and carried out at the Faculty's facilities and/or at another non-degree granting institution with which CIÊNCIAS has a collaboration agreement.

The total number of credits to be obtained on the course is 15 ECTS per trimester and can never exceed 60 ECTS. Successful attendance is confirmed by a Certificate, issued within a maximum period of 90 working days after being requested.

Applications are continuously open.

This course is open to holders of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science, Technology or Engineering, or in another area of training deemed appropriate by the course's Scientific Committee.

Specific access conditions:

• to hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree;

• to not be a PhD student;

• not to have previously attended this postgraduate course;

• to be accepted innto the research group of a professor or researcher of CIÊNCIAS or one of its associates;

• to be accepted by the course's Scientific Committee.

Candidates must enclose the following documents with their application form:

• certificate attesting to a Bachelor's or Master's degree;

• curriculum vitae;

• identification document (optional);

• letter of motivation;

• proof of acceptance from a professor or researcher of CIÊNCIAS or one of its associates.

Selection Criteria

As stated in the Despacho D/20/2024, accepted candidates will be subject to paying a deposit of €65.00 under penalty of losing their place on the course to which they have been accepted.

Payment Instructions:

• Access to application in Fenix (https://fenix.ciencias.ulisboa.pt/)

• In the application, choose “Create Deposit Payment "

• Consult the payment reference in the “Deposit Payment Details”

• Complete payment.

Candidates who do not live in Portugal:

• The procedure is the same, except that payment must be completed through bank transfer:

  • N.º IBAN: PT50003508240001225203011

  • SWIFT CODE/BIC: CGDIPTPL

Immediately after the payment has been processed, the corresponding proof of payment must be upload in the application related tab and submit (only for bank transfer payments).

Once this payment has been made, the amount paid as a deposit will revert to the payments due, following admission, for enrolment/registration on the respective postgraduate course.

In the eventuality that the course you have applied for is cancelled, the deposit will be reimbursed in full.

Deadlines for the payment of the deposit:

• Admitted candidates: payment of the deposit fee must be made within a continuous period of no more than two days following the publication of the results of each application period.
