With a Doctorate in Biochemistry, students are expected to:

• Demonstrate the ability to design, implement and develop an independent line of research (preferably recognised by the ability to publish in international peer-reviewed journals);

• Demonstrate a systematic understanding of a given area of Biochemistry and master the research techniques and methods associated with that area;

• Produce, through their original research, a contribution that extends the frontier of knowledge in an area of Biochemistry, thanks to the development of a remarkable body of scientific work;

• Demonstrate skills that enable them to integrate into the labour market as professional Biochemists in research, teaching or industry careers related to Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Biological Sciences in general.
