Procedures
The initiative to prepare a new cooperation protocol, or to develop an existing one, lies with the SCIENCES Directorate and the R&D Departments and Units.
Protocols are necessary for, for example:
Teaching collaboration;
Specialised training;
Provision of resources or access to infrastructure;
Reciprocal and public recognition of real cooperation;
Internships;
Establishment of awards;
Participation in consortia and cooperation networks;
Confidentiality or liability agreements.
Protocols may be bilateral or multilateral. It is common for a generic protocol to be followed by specific contracts to provide legal coverage for services involving financial flows.
The processing of new general or specific cooperation protocols for the development of R&D and related activities is the responsibility of the R&D Directorate - Research Support Office (falopes@ciencias.ulisboa.pt). The services of the Research Support Office:
Provide relevant preliminary information or model protocols that may be applicable;
Interact with the Directorate for approval and with the Departments to finalise details;
Interact with the other parties for the purpose of finalising the documents to be signed;
Interact with the Finance and Asset Management Department whenever a protocol may give rise to expenditure or revenue processes;
Update the information in the LOGOS - MUNDUS system.
Direct contact with the SCIENCES Department should be made as soon as the need is identified for the assessment of any strategic issues.
