Licenciatura em Física (Óptica e Electrónica) e Mestrado em Optoelectrónica e Lasers, ambos pela Universidade do Porto; doutoramento em Física (Micro/Nanoelectrónica e Optoelectrónica) pela Universidade do Porto, em cotutela com a Universidade de Glasgow.

Cofundador da Essient Photonics, Glasgow, Reino Unido (“start-up” criada para o desenvolvimento e comercialização da tecnologia resultante do trabalho de doutoramento).

Cofundador e membro do CEOT – Centro de Electrónica, Optoelectrónica e Telecomunicações (unidade financiada pela FCT - Fundação para uma Ciência e Tecnologia - com classificação excelente).

Investigador Principal (local) dos projetos:

- TeraApps - Doctoral Training Network in Terahertz Technologies for Imaging, Radar and Communication Applications. Funded under: H2020-EU.1.3.1. - Fostering new skills by means of excellent initial training of researchers.

- RETIOT - Reflectometry Technologies to Enhance the Future Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems. Financed by Portugal 2020.
