Currículo Resumido
Luis Miguel Rosalino received the B.S. degree in Biology from the Faculty of Science of the University of Lisbon (Portugal), and the Ph.D. in Biology (Ecology and Biosystematics) from the University of Lisbon (Portugal). He completed three post-docs, one at the Centre of Nuclear Energy in Agriculture (CENA)/University of São Paulo (USP; Brazil) and two at the Faculty of Science of the University of Lisbon (FCUL, Portugal). Was an Assistant Researcher at the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM), University of Aveiro (UA, Portugal) for three year and currently is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sciences of the Universiy of Lisbon (FCUL; Portugal). He serves as a Member of the IUCN/SCC Small Carnivore Specialist Group (SCSG).
Interesses Científicos
A minha investigação centra-se em perceber o impacto das actividades antrópicas nos indivíduos, populações e nos processos e padrões ecológicos a nível da paisagem, e em desenvolver estratégias para a conservação dos mamíferos, em especial os carnívoros, em distintos ecossistemas naturais, mas também em agro-ecossistemas e paisagens silvícolas. O meu objectivo principal é contribuir para o conhecimento dos mecanismos e processos subjacentes à resiliêcia das espécies presentes em agro-ecossistemas, e perceber como maximizar a biodiversidade e promover uma rede ecológica funcional em agro-ecossistemas, sem ameaçar a sustentabilidade económica da produção.
Scientific Interests
I seek to understand human impacts on individual, population and landscape-level patterns and processes, and develop strategies for conserving mammals, and especially mammalian carnivores, in diverse natural ecosystems throughout the world, but also in agro-ecosystems and forestry landscapes. My main goal is to contribute to unravel the mechanisms and processes behind species resilient in agroecosystems, and understand how we can maximize biodiversity and promote a functional ecological network in agro-ecosystems, while allowing for an economically sustainable production - a goal aligned with the UN's Greening the Economy with Agriculture strategy.
