One of the main missions of the Faculty of Sciences is to disseminate and promote scientific research carried out in its various areas.

Science communication activities in the Faculty of Sciences are now powered by the Communication and Image Department, in close collaboration with communicators and researchers from the Faculty's R&D Centres, other members of the academic community and external guests.

As part of this collaboration, science outreach events, training courses, thematic meetings and other initiatives are held to promote the sharing of experiences, ideas and projects, contributing to strengthening the culture of science communication in the Faculty.

Among these initiatives are the Distinguished Lecture Series, the CIÊNCIAS Research & Innovation Day, the Ser Cientista summer programme and training courses in Science Communication — events and activities that regularly bring together communicators, researchers, students and others interested in bringing science closer to society.
