Ambassadors Club

From CIÊNCIAS to Schools

The CIÊNCIAS Ambassadors Club is an initiative of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, launched in 2025, that brings the university closer to secondary schools.

Through this program, undergraduate and graduate students visit schools to share their academic experience directly and informally, and to raise awareness of study and research opportunities in the Sciences.

In sessions led by ambassadors, high school students and teachers can discover what daily life is like for an university student, learn about available courses, and have their questions about accessing higher education answered. In addition to school visits, the Club also promotes visits to the CIÊNCIAS campus, allowing high school students to interact with laboratories, researchers, and the university environment.

How can I host an Ambassador at my school?

Aimed primarily at 11th and 12th grade students interested in fields such as Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, Biology and Geology, or Informatics, the Ambassadors Club seeks to inspire future scientific vocations and create a bridge between high school and higher education.

How can I visit the CIÊNCIAS campus?

The CIÊNCIAS Ambassadors Club also invites high schools to visit the campus of the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Lisbon.

These visits provide students and teachers with the opportunity to get a close look at the university environment, explore laboratories and research spaces, and interact directly with CIÊNCIAS students.

Throughout the visit, the ambassadors share their academic experience, present the different scientific areas, and clarify doubts about access to and life in higher education, bringing students closer to the world of science and the possibilities for the future in the field.

Welcome an Ambassador to your School

In this program, a CIÊNCIAS ambassador visits the school and provides information about the various courses offered by the Faculty and their career opportunities.

We have two formats available:

- Setting up a portable booth during the visit, speaking directly with students who approach us and distributing documentation;

- Presentation of the Faculty and its courses, through a presentation followed by a debate with the possibility of answering questions from teachers and students.

Either format, or both, can be used, depending on the objectives and the requirements of the school.

To facilitate scheduling a possible visit, please provide the following information in your email:
- Personal name and/or school
- Number of visitors
- Ages/School grade
- Desired dates of visit
- Available duration and time of day (morning/afternoon) for visit
- Scientific areas you would like to learn about

Outreach Events and Activities

CIÊNCIAS, its Departments and R&D Centres promote, throughout the year, a series of activities and events aimed at showcasing our campus, its laboratories and scientific areas, providing high school students and teachers with the opportunity to experience research, researchers and academic life firsthand.
