EUIPO/EPO Pan-European
Seal Programme

10 Years of the
Pan-European Seal Programme

Since March 2020, CIÊNCIAS has been part of the network of partner institutions of the Pan European Professional Traineeship Seal Programme (PES).

This membership means that CIÊNCIAS students can participate in the training activities of the PES Programme, which is jointly managed by the European Patent Office (EPO) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

Its aim is to promote and encourage the creation of a culture of intellectual property protection in Europe.

The opportunities offered are only open to students proposed by PES Programme partner institutions, which is another excellent training opportunity for the CIÊNCIAS academic community and, potentially, future employment in highly prestigious organisations. The areas of training are varied, many of which fall within the main areas of CIÊNCIAS, making this partnership even more attractive.

The PES Programme offers paid internships at the EPO in Munich and the EUIPO in Alicante. Interns are integrated into the departments of the EUIPO in Alicante or the EPO in Munich, where they work in teams and are supervised.

It is, in fact, an opportunity to gain work experience in a multicultural environment (there are around 81 partner institutions from 38 countries) and access to complementary training, as well as other activities, such as language courses.

Competitions for traineeships are held every year, and partner institutions are always required to pre-select candidate students.

Other Opportunities - Exchange Programme

This is a follow-up initiative to the Pan-European Seal Professional Programme.

It allows PES trainees at the EUIPO to apply for an exchange opportunity for a second traineeship at the EPO, and allows EPO PES trainees to apply for a traineeship exchange at the EUIPO.

If accepted, trainees are offered a further 12 months of traineeship at the EPO premises, which begins as soon as they complete their traineeship at the EUIPO and vice versa.
