Welcome to the CIÊNCIAS community. We know this is an important milestone and that you may have many questions. On this page, we have gathered answers to the most frequently asked questions to help you prepare for the start of your academic journey. We wish you every success in this new chapter!

Registration and enrolment for the 2nd application period will take place from 1 to 3 October.

You will receive two text messages (SMS) from the Faculty (sent from the number 968 693 321) to the mobile phone number provided in your application to the National Higher Education Call. The second text message will contain your user account (login). Please note that:

  • This is your only login for CIÊNCIAS. At no stage will you need to use the access code sent by DGES again

  • If the number provided in your application is not your personal mobile phone number, you should ask the owner of that number to forward the text messages (SMS) we have sent you

  • If you provided a landline telephone number instead of a mobile phone number, you should contact the IT Services Unit (suporte@ciencias.ulisboa.pt) for assistance. In your email, please include the mobile phone number we should use, your full name, and the number of your identification document

  • Please do not reply to the text messages. They are sent automatically, and any replies will not be read

  • You will be able to change your mobile phone number at the end of the registration and enrolment process.

Now that you have your login, set your password via Balcão C. Please note the following when changing your password:

  • You will be asked to enter your identification document number, without the check digits, rather than the login previously sent to you

  • As you have not yet set up your personal email address (you will do so later), you must select the "Personal Mobile Phone" option.

You can access the password change service whenever necessary. If you experience any difficulties, please contact us by email. In your message, do not forget to include your full name, identification document number, and the telephone number used in your application to DGES. Once you have set your password, you can test your account using one of the many CIÊNCIAS services (for example, by accessing your email account or the service portfolio).

The first actual use of your login and password will be from 9.00 a.m. on 1 October, so that you can complete your registration and enrolment, following the steps outlined in the sections below.

Please note: students who do not hold Portuguese nationality must provide proof to the academic services (Building C5, 3rd Floor – General Office) that they fall under one of the circumstances that exclude them from ‘International Student’ status. Please see the list of exceptions at https://ciencias.ulisboa.pt/en/international-students.
