Innovation28 May, 2026

The Portuguese Science Summit Innovation 2026 – Shaping the Future will take place, between 15 and 16 July, at the Lisbon Congress Centre, with the purpose of consulting the scientific community, companies, organizations from various sectors and national, regional and local public administration. During the two days of the event, "collaborative ideas and proposals for scientific research and knowledge-based innovation, including their connection to society, economy, territory and regional development," will be analyzed, according to the institutional page of the Meeting. The different members of the national community can already submit proposals and projects. The organization of the event is ensured by the Agency for Research and Innovation (AI²), entity that results from the merger of the Foundation for Science and Technology FCT and the Agency for Innovation (ANI).

The event organization has just launched a challenge to the "research and innovation ecosystem" with the aim of collecting "strategic contributions to this important discussion".

"The thematic proposals submitted by the various groups will serve as a basis for a public debate, participated and extended to several rooms, whose results will contribute to the strategic guidelines of research and innovation in Portugal for the next five years", also refers to the Meeting Science and Innovation 2026 page.

The event managers ask each group wishing to submit proposals for the inclusion of participants from "at least three entities of different typology". " These entities may be Research Units (UID), Associated Laboratories (LA), companies and/or public or private bodies, national or regional. In particular, we would like to encourage the participation of interdisciplinary groups that are already collaborating effectively on existing projects and initiatives with a measurable impact,' adds the organization.

Interested parties must fill in a form for submission of proposals.

The deadline for collecting proposals is 16 June. " The proposals will be evaluated by the Organizing Committee of the Science and Innovation Meeting and grouped by themes in sessions of thematic debates. The notification of acceptance of the proposals will be made by July 1, "further refers to the organization of the Meeting.
