Ciências ULisboa Doctorates open applications for 2026/2027

The application deadlines for the doctoral programs of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (Ciências ULisboa) for the 2026/2027 academic year have already been set. The 1st phase runs from July 1 to August 17, 2026, while the 2nd phase will take place from December 2, 2026 to January 15, 2027.

Candidates interested in deepening their scientific training and developing advanced research can consult the doctoral offerings of Ciências ULisboa and submit their application within the established deadlines. The PhD in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution has its own calendar, with the 1st application phase taking place between July 1 and September 1, 2026.

Applications are also open to international students. Holders of a master’s degree or a legally equivalent qualification may apply. There is also the possibility of registration for graduates with an academic or scientific record of recognized merit, as well as candidates with an academic, scientific or professional curriculum considered suitable by the Scientific Council.

International candidates must demonstrate knowledge appropriate to the chosen field of study and prove language skills compatible with attending the course. Degrees obtained abroad are subject to the legal procedures of recognition and validation provided for in Portuguese legislation.

Applications are submitted online through the Fénix platform. Regarding the required documents, it is necessary to present a curriculum vitae, academic certificates, a motivation letter, and proof of academic qualifications.
