Ciências highlighted in the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2026

Ciências ULisboa contributes to the international scientific projection of the University of Lisbon, which is represented in 35 of the 57 scientific fields assessed by the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2026

Among the fields in which ULisboa achieves outstanding results are Ecology, Oceanography, Water Resources, Statistics, Physics and Earth Sciences, areas with a strong presence in the research carried out at Ciências ULisboa.

The ranking results, which assess higher education institutions worldwide across scientific fields, reflect indicators related to research output and impact, international collaboration and academic recognition

ULisboa’s presence in 35 scientific fields, and its national leadership in 22 of them, reinforces the scale and diversity of the research carried out across the University, with the contribution of its Schools and Research Units.

For Ciências ULisboa, these results provide yet another indicator of the international relevance of the research produced across its various scientific areas.
