In this interview with Marketeer, Celma Padamo, the head director of the Image and Communication Unit at Ciências ULisboa, discusses the challenges and opportunities of communicating science, the Faculty’s communication strategy, and the importance of strengthening its presence among different audiences. A conversation about communication, science, and the ways in which both intersect in building an institution that is closer to, and more relevant for society.
“At a time when science faces challenges of perception, misinformation and distrust, higher education institutions are called upon to communicate not only their academic offer, but what they stand for. It is in this context that the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon marks its 115th anniversary with a campaign that places science at the centre of the conversation and seeks to reinforce its value within society. Under the tagline ‘Science is the Way. You are the Future’, the initiative embraces an ambition that goes beyond institutional visibility: building an academic brand that is closer, more relevant, and capable of asserting the role of science among different audiences. The strategy also stems from a shift in how university communication is viewed, where reputation, trust and positioning carry increasing weight in an increasingly competitive sector.”
