Download and install the strongSwan VPN client. The download can be done through the Google Play Store or through the strongSwan download page at: https://download.strongswan.org/Android/

Once installed, run the client and select ‘ADD VPN PROFILE’.

Configure the VPN client with the following options: a) Profile Name: <Connection name of your choice> b) Server / Gateway: vpn.ciencias.ulisboa.pt c) Type: IKEv2 EAP (Username/Password)d) Username: <your email address>Note: Students should use a username of the type: username@alunos.ciencias.ulisboa.pte) Password: <your password>
Finally, select ‘SAVE’ to save the configuration.

4.Connect to the VPN by clicking on the configuration/profile you created.

Accept the client's execution by selecting ‘I trust this application’ and OK.

If everything is correct, the VPN session will be established quickly.

If the VPN session fails, this is likely to be related to the lack of root certificates from the CA (Certificate Authority) that signs the Ciências VPN server certificate.

To overcome this difficulty, simply download the CA certificate and install it on your mobile device as follows: Download the CA certificate from the following link: DigiCertCA Access the settings of your mobile device and select Security.

Select ‘Install from SD card/Install from storage’, navigate to the location of the certificate download, and select the certificate.

Assign a name to the certificate if requested and complete the installation by clicking OK. Once the certificate has been installed correctly, the error should no longer occur.
