How much is the tuition fee, annually?

For 1st Cycle (Bachelor), Integrated Master - €7.000, 00/Year.

For 2nd Cycle (Master) course - €€7.000, 00/Year.

Except:
- Master of 90ECTS (1st year - 7.000€; 2nd year/semester - 3.500€);
- Master in Financial Mathematics (1st year - 3.900€; 2nd year - 1.300€).

How can I get information on the courses that will open and the number of places?

In the International Student's public notice for 1st Cycle course (Bachelor and Integrated Master Degree) are referred the available courses and correspondent places.

In the International Student’s public notice for 2nd Cycle are referred the available courses and correspondent places.

In the International Student’s public notice for 3rd Cycle/PhD are referred the available courses and correspondent places. 

 

Which are the application deadlines?

1st Cycle (Bachelor and Integrated Master Degree)
Applications are open continuously from 20th March to 20th October 2017, existing three phases of appreciation.

2nd Cycle
1st period of applications: 06th June - 14th July 2017
2nd period of applications: 18th August – 31st August 2017

3rd Cycle/PhD course
1st period of applications: 03rd July - 14th August 2017
2nd period of applications: 01st December 2017 - 16th January 2018

 

Which are the documents to attach to the application?

1st Cycle (Bachelor and Integrated Master Degree)

Students applying from International Secondary education

  • Passport or Identity Card - optional;
  • A sworn declaration stating that the candidate is neither of Portuguese nationality, nor is included in any of the special conditions that do not confirm their status as an international student, according to the International Student Statute, approved by legislation (Decreto-Lei nº 36/2014, 10 de março);
  • A declaration confirming the completion of Portuguese Secondary education or equivalent, or, if the academic qualification does not correspond with that of Portuguese secondary education, a confirmatory document which allows admission into higher education by the country in which it was obtained, duly validated by the competent entity/institution of this country, in accordance with current legislation (nº 2 do artigo 2º do Despacho nº 750/2016, de 15 de janeiro) 1;
  • Documents confirming 2:
    i. Final grades achieved in Portuguese secondary education, or the equivalent, indicating the level of classification;
    ii. Academic qualification in accordance with current legislation (nºs 2 a 5 do artigo 4º do Despacho nº 750/2016, de 15 de janeiro);
  • Diploma in Beginner’s Portuguese or in Intermediate Portuguese (as a foreign language), or a certificate issued by a ULisboa school stating B1 or B2 Level, or a declaration of B1 level in Portuguese language and culture, if the candidate did not attend secondary education in Portuguese.

Students applying from International Establishments of Higher Education

  • Passport or Identity Card - optional;
  • A sworn declaration stating that the candidate is neither of Portuguese nationality, nor included in any of the special conditions that do not confirm their status as an international student, according to the International Student Statute, approved by legislation (Decreto-Lei nº 36/2014, 10 de março);
  • A document confirming attendance in higher education and a certificate stating the grades obtained in the accomplished subjects, in the case of admittance by transfer or course change and a study program from the course of origin. Syllabus and workload of the concluded subjects, only if the applicant intends to request crediting for the accomplished subjects 1;
  • Diploma in Beginner’s Portuguese or in Intermediate Portuguese (as a foreign language), or a certificate issued by a ULisboa school stating B1 or B2 Level, or a declaration of B1 level in Portuguese language and culture, if the candidate did not attend secondary education in Portuguese.

2nd Cycle

  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • Degree Diploma;
  • Grades Certificate;
  • Grades Programmes (stamped and signed by the institution of higher education);
  • Sworn Statement (declaration on honour and signed by the applicant, stating that she/he has not the Portuguese nationality and is not included in any of the special conditions which confirm the International Student Status, according to the International Student Statute, approved by legislation (artigo 3.º do Decreto-Lei n.º 36/2014 de 10 de março);
  • Identity Card or Passport - optional;
  • Motivation letter;
  • Declaration, stating the acknowledgment of the degree and the Higher Education Institution, (issued by DGES);
  • Declaration, issued by the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Services, authorizing legal permanence in Portugal (this document should be sent or delivered until the day of registration/enrollment).

Attention: The Certificates/Diploma must by certified by the Portuguese consular service or be presented with the Apostille (Hague Convention) by the competent authority of the state from which the documents are originated, and whenever they are not issued in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish, they must be translated into one of these languages.

 

3rd Cycle/PhD course

  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • Degree Diploma1 or legal equivalence2;
  • Grades Certificate1;
  • Grades Programmes (stamped and signed by the institution of higher education);
  • Sworn Statement (declaration on honour and signed by the applicant, stating that she/he has not the Portuguese nationality and is not included in any of the special conditions which confirm the International Student Status, according to the International Student Statute, approved by legislation (artigo 3.º do Decreto-Lei n.º 36/2014 de 10 de março);
  • Identity Card or Passport - optional;
  • Work plan indicating the general objectives to be achieved;
  • Guidance acceptance statement(s) of supervisor(s) - optional;
  • Motivation letter;
  • Declaration, issued by the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF), authorizing legal permanence in Portugal, (this document should be sent or delivered until the day of registration/enrollment).

1 Attention: The Certificates/Diploma must by certified by the Portuguese consular service or be presented with the Apostille (Hague Convention) by the competent authority of the state from which the documents are originated, and whenever they are not issued in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish, they must be translated into one of these languages (validated by the consular or embassy services). At the time of registration/enrollment, should submit the originals of certificates and identification for confirmation.

2 Consider as legal equivalence to the degree of “Licenciatura” and “Mestrado” (Master), the equivalence and recognition of qualifications provided for in Decreto-Lei nº 283/83, 21 de junho and Decreto-Lei nº 341/2007, de 12 de outubro.

 

How much is the application fee?

The Application Fee is €60, 00. For any other extra application the fee is compulsory.

 

How to submit the application?

The whole procedure is online. You must fill in the form and submit it with the required documents duly scanned and uploaded.

 

Is it possible to submit the application without a document?

Applications without the required documents will not be accepted. (Please consult the International Student’s public notice).

 

How can I pay the application fee?

Await for an e-mail informing about the payment of the application fee.

The payment must be made by bank transfer or Internet.

Note: The applicant must submit the payment proof of the fee in the application form only after submit the application.

 

Can I pay the application fee after submitting the application?

The payment of the application fee is done after submit the application and after receive the information by email of the postgraduates services. The applications without the application’s fee payment proof will not be accepted.

 

Can the application fee be reimbursed?

The application fee cannot be reimbursed.

 

Can I apply to more than one 1st Cycle course (Bachelor and Integrated Master Degree)?

Applicants can choose any available course, as long as they prove, through a Secondary Education conclusion Certificate (or equivalent), that they are eligible and have the academic prerequisites to the course they are applying for. The Application Fee is €60,00. For any other extra application the fee is compulsory.

Applicants that have applied to more than one course, and have been accepted in both of them, must inform the Graduate Studies Office (ua@ciencias.ulisboa.pt), as soon as the results are public, of the course they intend to register/enroll. If our services do not get this information in time both applications will be rejected.

 

How can I consult the applications results?

The application results will be available online.

 

What are the procedures regarding the payment of the deposit?

As defined in the International Student’s Public Notice, for 1st Cycle (Bachelor), Integrated Master and 2nd Cycle/Master course applicants, after the result’s outcome, the applicants admitted in the 1st and 2nd Period must pay the deposit (€500,00), as requested. 

Please consult the Despacho D/55/2015.

Deadlines for the payment of the deposit:

  • Applicants admitted on the 1st Period: until 5 (five days) after the result’s outcome;
  • Applicants admitted on the 2nd Period: until 2 (two days) after the result’s outcome.

As well as the application fee, the deposit must be paid by bank transfer to:

After this payment the applicant must send the proof of payment to receita@ciencias.ulisboa.pt for 1st Cycle or candidatura-pg@ciencias.ulisboa.pt for 2nd Cycle, referring the name of Student applying.
