At the invitation of GRESBASE (Sedimentary Basins Study Group of the Geological Society of Portugal), and Chronosurveys, Felix Gradstein, Professor Emeritus of the University of Oslo and former geologist of the Geological Survey of Canada, is visiting Ciências ULisboa to present his new book, published by Elsevier, entitled "Fossils and Earth Time".
A figure of great importance in the field of Stratigraphy and Palaeontology, Professor Felix Gradstein led the formulation of the International Chronostratigraphic Chart, as we know it today. He was President of the International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS), receiving many international recognitions such as the Jean Baptiste Lamarck medal from the European Geosciences Union.
The presentation will take place at the Library of the Instituto Dom Luiz, on 15 June, at 10am, and will have the collaboration of this CIÊNCIAS institute and the Department of Earth Sciences and Energy (DCTE) of our faculty.
